The incident took place around 11:20 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 1387 Pembroke St., which is a six-unit home, said the Bridgeport Fire Department.

Upon arriving on the scene, the fire department was able to safely evacuate everyone out of the home in addition to extinguishing the fire quickly, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Fire Department.

A total of 25 people, including children were temporarily displaced, he said.

The fire caused minimal damage as two of the six apartments took a majority of the damage where residents will likely need to seek alternative shelter, the fire department said.

The Red Cross is currently conducting relocation and family assistance to those in need in conjunction with the apartment manager.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshall’s office.
